Phosphor Bronze: C51000, C52100, C54400
Phosphor bronze is the first choice for moderate-load bushing applications. These three grades deliver high strength, solid wear resistance, and reliable corrosion resistance. They also handle cyclic stress well, which makes them a good fit for parts that see repetitive motion every cycle.
C54400 is the most machinable of the three grades and is a practical choice for high-volume CNC production runs. All three grades are also used for springs and electrical connectors, so if your bushing doubles as a contact element, phosphor bronze handles both roles without compromise.
Bearing Bronze: C93200, C93600, C93700
These three grades exist specifically for bearings, bushings, and thrust washers. The lead content reduces friction at the contact surface and improves machinability. Both qualities matter when you’re producing bushings in quantity and need consistent dimensions through the full run.
C93200 is the most widely used bearing bronze in general industrial work. If your application doesn’t involve extreme corrosion exposure, this is the grade to start with. C93600 and C93700 offer slightly different lead and tin balances for applications with varying load and speed conditions.
Aluminum Bronze: C95400, C95500, C95900
Aluminum bronze handles situations where load and corrosion show up together. These grades carry higher strength than phosphor bronze and better corrosion resistance than bearing bronze. Marine environments, chemical processing lines, and aerospace components are where we see them specified most often.
If your bearing housing sits near saltwater or process chemicals and still takes real mechanical stress, aluminum bronze gives you both. It also works well in heavy-duty gear applications where a softer bronze grade would compress and fail under sustained load.
Manganese Bronze: C86300, C86400, C86500
Manganese bronze brings the highest strength in the bronze family. These grades are designed for gears, hydraulic cylinder components, and marine hardware that absorb shock loads and heavy mechanical stress. They hold up where other grades deflect or deform under pressure.
Corrosion resistance is more limited in manganese bronze than in aluminum bronze. This is the right call when the primary threat is mechanical, not chemical. If your application involves high shock load and the environment is controlled, manganese bronze is a strong fit.
Silicon Bronze: C65500
Silicon bronze fills a specific gap that other grades cannot cover. It offers good corrosion resistance and welds cleanly after machining. For marine hardware, electrical component housings, and parts that need post-machining fabrication, no other bronze grade in our catalog matches it.
It is not the first choice for a heavily loaded bushing. The strength is moderate compared to aluminum or manganese bronze. But when corrosion resistance and weldability are both required in the same part, C65500 is the grade that solves the problem cleanly.
